Upon entering the restaurant, the greeter stared at me silently; I broke the ice by greeting him and identifying myself as a customer. The soup served was bland lacking salt, spices, and even the lemon that should have accompanied it(came after we finishedthe soup). The waiter or perhaps the owner acted as though I were a daily regular who should know the ropes, even though it was my first visit. When I asked for the menu and ordered catfish, I was told only one variety was available; when I ordered the *Quzi*, I was told it would take an hour. I suggested to my family that we leave, but within seconds, the *Quzi* was suddenly ready! The *Quzi* and the single available type of fish arrived, but the *Quzi* meat was either rotten or extremely stale. We ate only a portion of the fish before asking for the bill and leaving. Note: The amount of rice is disproportionate to the amount of broth which is excessively sweet, making it more like "broth jam"!

This has to be one of the best and most authentic Iraqi and Middle Eastern spots in Sterling Heights. The place has a cozy, quiet atmosphere with a small dining area that gives off a nostalgic Iraqi vibe. Even though we arrived close to closing time, the staff member there provided outstanding hospitality and customer service. The kebabs are a must-try—the flavor is absolutely incredible 🔥 For the quality and portion size, the pricing is very fair (around $15-$20 per person). I’ll definitely be coming back again, and next time with more friends!

I was told by a patron that this is typical Iraqi food. The server did not speak English, which to me was a great sign that I would love the food. And I did! The lamb shank was so tender and huge portions. The food just kept coming! Everything was amazing

I’m giving Ghazal Alfurat three stars, mainly because the food is the strongest part of the experience. The dishes were decent, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Unfortunately, the overall experience is brought down by several major issues. The atmosphere is very poor. The restaurant looks outdated, like it’s stuck in the 90s, and cleanliness is a serious concern. The dining area feels dirty, and the washrooms were especially filthy, which is unacceptable for any restaurant. Another serious concern is that payments seems to only be collected in cash, with nothing being punched into the register, simply communicating the total verbally and no receipt provided. There was no visible record of the transaction at all. This lack of transparency is very concerning and unprofessional, especially for customers who expect proper billing and accountability. Service started off okay, but things took a very uncomfortable turn. The owners got into a loud argument with another customer in the middle of the restaurant. What made it worse was the use of Arabic cussing words, spoken loudly in front of other diners, including families with children. This was extremely disrespectful and unprof

Ghazal al Furat is a truly exceptional restaurant that deserves every bit of praise and support. The quality of the food is outstanding everything tastes incredibly fresh, authentic, and clearly prepared with passion. It's easily some of the best Iraqi cuisine in the area. What truly elevates the experience is the service. The owners, staff, and management are all exceptionally polite, kind, and attentive, making you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you step inside. This level of hospitality, combined with the excellent cooking, makes Ghazal al Furat a must-visit. They are a wonderful local business that deserves all the success. Highly, highly recommended!
